I'll agree with the thrift shops (and lucky you with all the cool shops in LA--if you're looking for something really nice, I recommend the shops in wealthier neighborhoods).

Check out Etsy? I guess the quality can be hit or miss, but you can find some pretty nice stuff...and now...I'm blanking on a beautiful website...ugh! If I find it again, I'll post it!
