Re: What sexualities and gender identites do you believe exist?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-05 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)I also don't believe that asexuality is a sexual preference. But I could be wrong about that one and I'm open for correction. to me it just seems like it's a lack of interest, which is fine as long as you're not being forced or forcing yourself to comply with societal standards of "you have to marry and make kids and like sex". I know a lot of (older) people who never married and always were apparently disinterested in sex and/or having a romantic partner.
About gender identities, I believe that the categories of male/female make sense on a biological level but not on a psychological. I think of Gender as a spectrum. Everything else is roles we play. Saying that as a former lesbian transgender butch who at one point started to let out her inner princess and is now living the cishet dream complete with a sexually dominant male partner, with cupcakes and babies and the whole wholistic kindergarten deal. And dresses and super long hair. But identity-wise, I think I haven't changed at all. I'm still somewhere between what people would consider "male" or "female". I just like myself in the role I'm in right now, just like I liked myself back then in my other role.
