I just couldn't get past the way the showrunners not only didn't make him bisexual but dismissed such suggestions in a really rude way. It wasn't that it wasn't a faithful adaption, but that the way they refused to do it came across as really homophobic to me.

That was my issue, too. I got the impression that they really hadn't even thought about it at all until asked and then fumbled around for answers. It seemed idiotic at best and really put me off wanting to watch the show.
