I like the assumption that floors that don't have people walking on them in shoes are clean.

I mean, dust, food particles, microbes from that gym/pool shower, anything pets have tracked in, that goddamn container of glitter you spilled three years ago, tiny bits of paper and fabric from innumerable sources. Yes, you can clean, but unless you're cleaning every minute of every day or live in an ISO 1 cleanroom environment, there's something on your floor.

By the way, though there are gross things you can track in from outside, you can also have them inside (a lot of things that come from inside people and animals is much grosser than some dirt or leaves, in my opinion).

Either way, if you clean your floors and yourself with some regularity, I don't think anyone should have an issue.

Dirt, leaves, pesticides, sulphur compounds from tyres that have been spread by water run off from roads, exhaust residues from vehicles, cigarette ash, various animals faeces, other carcinogenic compounds that comprise generic urban pollution, viruses, bacteria, mud (which is the main source of a multitude of bacteria including necrotizing bacteria).

Yep. The outdoors is real clean.
