If you hate the trailer you're a sexist.

If you like the trailer you're a racist.

Pick your poison F!S

How is it racist though, when the black guy in the original movie also was not a scientist? It's a remake. They generally follow the same script.

Do you seriously not see the butt-ton of racist stereotypes for the black character? It has fuck all to do with being a scientist or not.

No, I seriously don't, because I haven't watched any trailers, and that's all the internet ever complains about: she's a transit worker, not a scientist.

Winston was not a scientist because he was the everyman. He was the character the audience was supposed to identify with as the sciency/supernatural stuff went down around him.

Patti is not a scientist because she is a stereotype. She shouts her jokes. she is sassy. She is direct. She is uneducated. All because she is the black one.

airt said the black woman character was wrong because she's direct, loud, and sassy, suggesting that a good black character is quiet, obedient, and unobtrusive

learning so much here

It in no way suggested that a good black character is quiet, obedient, and unobtrusive holy fuck

If you honestly don't understand why the Sassy Black Woman trope is harmful then I honestly don't know what to tell you, please go stick your head back into the sand

Perhaps they're not understanding because you're not explaining it well?

Man, if you have a problem with a black character in Ghostbusters being direct and sassy and shouting all their jokes, you really should have started saying this stuff when they cast Leslie Jones, because that is absolutely her only gear as a comic performer.

I'm not even saying that as a critique, it's a totally legit style of comedy and she's really good at it. My point is if you're going to have Leslie Jones in your movie, that's how she's going to be acting.
