You'll see coloring contests at the local library or whatever where all the girls colored a picture of a pretty girl in a wedding dress, and all the boys did giant robots. And girls will write "I want to be a bride" as their "what do you want to be when you grow up?" statement.
It's very focussed on the idea that girls must like makeup and fashion and boys and pinks sparkly things and weddings and marriage exclusively. The Pretty Cure franchise is absolutely the Disney Princess of Japan.
