Yeah, but generally those are accepted as unrealistic tropes that people know are unrealistic.

You get a different vibe when the author truly and honestly thinks something's realistic when it's not.

I once read fic by someone who was convinced, convinced, that guys had sex together by one fucking down the other's urethra. Not a sounding fetish, they thought that was how it worked.

That's my point though. People don't necessarily know how anything works. Half the time I'm convinced that the author of any given smutfic is a virgin who is just doing what they imagine would be hot, even if that thing would be the polar opposite in real life. And so what? They're entitled to that. Trying to wank about fans not writing realistic gay or bi men was a failed endeavour before it began (back in the early 00's), because no one cared in the slightest when it came just wanting "teh smexy bishies".

This is the same thing. OP very likely just happens to be someone's kink, and in doing so falls under the same category as the aforementioned. They're not necessarily going to care about realism when they'd rather have an opportunity for emotionality and doing what they think would be hot in a fic.

And wow I'm dating myself with some of these references here lol.

Ohhh, I think I read that one, too. Or was there more than one? I don't even want to know. I think it was Saiyuki fic?

I sure haven't seen anything like that in recent years.

HA, yeah, it was a Saiyuki fic. I don't remember anything else about it though.
