Re: What does it take for you to accept that your ship won't happen?

Absolutely nothing, as most of my ships are slash and I know they won't happen. I ship almost exclusively based on chemistry, meaning if they're het, they happen with roughly 100% certainty, so... There's no suspense. They gender of the characters = whether they'll get together or not.

Your thoughts sound similar to mine - I ship non-canon and a lot of the time it's non-canon because it's slash based on strong chemistry.

Chemistry is debatable, though. Different people see different things as chemistry. What you see as chemistry the writers/creators might not see as chemistry so they might not ever put the characters together.

I have, uh, yet to have a het pairing I thought would make a good couple not become canon, so I doubt my perception of "chemistry" is that far off what writers think of it.

It's pretty similar for me too. Most of my het ships become canon at some point and almost none of my slash/femslash ships have become canon and that's fine. Honestly, I don't even like too much romance in my movies/TV shows anyway so I'd be cool w/pretty much nothing being canon (I read fanfic if I want romance).
