Noragami

Any other fans? Just watched season 2 recently!

I guess I really like the premise, even though I don't think it's a flawless show, I find it loads of fun to watch. Yato and Yukine are awesome. The female lead sort of bounces between feeling stupidly unnecessary to me and somewhat lovable (usually when she's being mature/motherly or occasionally when she and Yato argue). But I really want to know what happens next, and I haven't heard if any more seasons are in the works... even though it's pretty clear they just adapted an arc or two of the manga and there's probably plenty more to go.

I haven't watched the show yet, but your post got me interested.

ayrt

haha I'm not sure I really explained myself well, but if you're a fan of urban Japanese fantasy/Japanese mythology, you might be intrigued. For me, the premise is enough to make it really enjoyable, even if the script itself doesn't quite do it justice.

Noragami really frustrates me, because I love the premise too, and most of the characters, but Yato/Hiyori being just about canon is unbearable for me. I see why having a "normal" human is important, but why does she have to be so typically annoying and a love interest? My annoyance at her being a love interest has nothing to do with me shipping Yato with Bishamon and Kazuma. Nothing at all.

Yeah. Hiyori being a love interest (which I guess she is?) is just so... stereotypical? I don't mind Yato being goofy or jokingly enamored with her, but I just can't buy actual romance since she's like a 15-year-old girl. Her role had potential to be interesting, with her being the "every man" when basically every other character is a god/spirit, and her being sort of half-dead... but she really does nothing of note besides make Yato and Yukine feel better about themselves. She's just not interesting, and doesn't make up for in personality what she lacks in character background.

So I try to interpret it as, Hiyori's real significance is being someone who will remember Yato, since that's the most important thing to him, so he won't fade away. Since that's the role a human, or a priestess, really has to a god, it makes sense without there being actual romance, even if it's sort of played that way.
