And as for the lesbian part, you have a gay character's parental figure accidentally killing them because they were trying to kill their lover because their love posed a danger.
The subtext is astoundingly unfortunate. One more reason why they should have tried harder.
Lexa's death sucked because for all it will shift in the plot, it was designed entirely for the sake of giving Clarke a glimpse of happiness before her life once again turns to hell. Lexa was a bystander with a plot McGuffin corpse. She deserved cooler.

Still sucks hard core, though.
I did love Clarke having a moment with the trading-post woman, though - that was so perfect. Like any male hero would do, she had a random, no-guilt hook-up. Loved it!
