How did I forget this? Yes, 1000% yes. Such a misunderstanding of all the characters, but especially Clark and then Jonathan Kent. And the tone was just wrong for a Superman movie. Superman is optimistic. That is who he is. Even when horrible things happen, optimism and a belief in the innate goodness of people is a key to his character and his stories.

How bad has it gotten? I was over it when I heard they broke up Clark and Lois and were now going to pair him with Wonder Woman. Just no. Clark and Lois are one of those sacrosanct couples for me that should never be broken up.

Lois outed Clark as Superman because he was in a mildly perilous situation which is one billion percent less threatening than most of the stuff he got out of on his own previously. But the greater good and all that. Plus he was given supercancer and became an embittered drifter and truck driver. He wasn't able to get into his fortress of solidtude and he had to wear T-shirt and jeans instead of his costume and he went street fighting too.
