Re: Canon

In general, I care about how each story I consume goes. For the original work, I care about its plot, characters, etc. Same for each fanfic--I care about the "canon" of the fic. I don't think fics are less worthy or meaningful than the stories that inspire them, but they're often hard to jump into unless you already know the canon, so I tend to care more about canon. (I've heard there are a ton of great Evangelion fics, but nothing I've heard about the series makes me want to watch it in order to understand the fics.)
