Well, things HAVE changed from back in the day. Remember when words like "rape", "appropriation", and "trigger" actually meant something, instead of being used to describe something you don't like? Remember when if you made a faux pas and apologized for it people generally forgave you and moved on?

Sure, Fandom has always been shitty, but I don't remember it ever being this shitty. I remember when it was actually fun, instead of having to walk on eggshells and worry about whatever it is you said will cause you to get doxxed and stalked.

I blame whatever it is in the water now a days.

You know what, I prefer walking on eggshells to 24/7 bigotry. Go on Reddit for 5 minutes. Immediately rape jokes and whining about false rape accusations, asserting that racism isn't real and I should be able to do blackface if I want, hurrr *TRIGGERING INTENSIFIES* I identify as an attack helicopter and other HILARIOUS memes... Also feminism is about women oppressing men, spermjacking blah blah blah.

Yeah, tumblr can be a little oversensitive, but I much, much prefer that to the rampant and unfiltered bigotry you see in the broader nerdosphere.

See, that's why I don't go to Reddit. It can get too disgusting, even for me. I'm not going to go on a time wasting crusade against it though. I simply avoid it, because complaining about it obviously isn't making it go away and attacking it is only making it worse. Maybe if we treat it like a troll, and ignore it, maybe it'll go away when it's not getting the attention it wants.

Reddit is the mainstream, though. It's not like some obscure dirty corner of the internet. This is the majority that believes this stuff.

I recently ragequit Reddit and deleted my account, so I'm with you there. I just can't put up with all the toxic bullshit.

DA

I feel the opposite, haha. I mean, that stuff is all really terrible, but at least you can point it out as objectively awful, and generally avoid people like that. With SJWs it's seriously like a constant uphill battle fighting literal gaslighting, manipulation, and stalking. From TEENS

Why should you have to though? If you don't like something, avoid the thing, block it, do whatever you have to so you don't have to have it in your life, don't make people cater to your special snowflake self. I wonder how these people operate in the real world.

Also that's your problem, you go on Reddit's main site, most smart people just go straight to the Reddit board they want rather than wading through the shit and troll posts.

Yeah, this is basically what has changed about fandom. We had the BNFs, the ship wars, etc, but the SJWs were either nonexistent or had yet to come out of the woodwork and people generally moved on if you apologized for your faux pas, that's what I miss most about fandom.
