Depends on whether you mean on just buying the dragon or if you count gening it up. I first switched my progens to pearlcatchers. Then I switched them to a coatl and a wildclaw with irishim/belly. So if you count genes, those are definitely the most expensive of my dragons. If you just mean a dragon, not his/her genes, then it would be this girl, who is an oldie who is a fully statted/stoned level 25.

I tend not to spend more than 100k on dragons. As they are definitely over-abundant and I figure I can pretty much get any dragon I might want for that price at some point. I tend to waste my money on accents (oh dear God, way too many accents!) and genes for old dragons instead.

As far as favorite breeds go, I think I have the most coatl and imperial permanent dragons. Genes it is no contest. I definitely have an overabundance of irishim dragons. I like how they carry terts (and accents!) on them. Because they are plain enough that they don't look too busy with something on top, but they are more interesting than basic.

For colors, I did a survey of my lair once. It has changed since then, as I sadly exalted a lot for Light v. Plague, but at that point I had every color except spring or black somewhere on a dragon. My most popular color by far was white (mostly for terts, as I like snowbellies) with 21, followed by ice, maize, rose, and obsidian. The most surprising color that I had in the double digits was denim. I really like denim iridescent, and my progen and some of her line have it as a tert. Just looking at my lair, I don't think there is any real color scheme, though. I have very eclectic taste in colors, ranging from eyeburners to pastels to more natural looking to monochrome. I keep thinking I should be more theme-like with my lair, but I never do it. I just keep getting dragons I like. :)

I always figure even when dragons are pricey it ist still cheeper to buy one with all the genes I like than to buy one cheaper and then pay for the gene scrolls. And I'm impatient. I want the perfect dragon when I want it.

I don't ever purposefully plan any themes other than the names. I just tend to gravitate towards certain colors like neutrals and reds. those are just the ones that grab me. Crimson is my favorite color on the entire wheel. I Have so much crimson in my lair.

That would be if I weren't attached to the dragons in my lair. There are very few dragons I have that are not at least a year old and/or have some other significance for me. The ones that aren't either tend to be more transient. I'll buy them, breed them a few times, and then end up exalting them when there is a big push. And I have diverse enough tastes, that there generally isn't a "perfect" dragon that I need now. I don't even know if I can come up with what I would consider a perfect dragon just based on looks.

I at least started with name themes? But I have way too many dragons for that now, so the themes kinda went by the wayside. I'm always impressed at people that can carry that off. I do like crimson. It is a nice red without any weird yellowish/brownish undertones when turned into irishim, which is definitely a plus for me. I kinda wish I gravitated toward certain colors only. I kinda did when I started, as I had a lot of obsidian/white primary with splashes of color, but then that got dropped. I think it makes a lair look more cohesive when it looks something like this rather than my mess of a lair. But then I think about all of the personalities and all of that for my dragons, and I can't bring myself to do it differently.

That's why I wish we could multiaccount. I don't even need them to interact at all. I'd just love a themed lair without having to give up my main lair. Oh well!

I've had to branch out my naming themes because I started running out of good Tolkien names. I really hope I get the male wildclaw rather than the female. If it's male he's going to be Maeglin. But I have no idea what I'd name the girl.
