It's not really anymore ridiculous than being snobby or pretentious about anything. If you're going to be a stuck-up jerk about something, it might as well be Pokemon instead of fine wine or cars or something.

Sure, that works. That's a good point. Pretentious/snobby people are in all walks of life--and they'll be represented in all hobbies and interests. No reason to single one specific interest out as being a stupid thing to be snobby over.

at first I thought it was about people looking down at kids' things fans. Now I think it's about the fans being snobby about... something. Which still doesn't make much sense.
