Why take them so seriously?

I try not to! But when they're in serious mode, they have a way of making everything else seem utterly ridiculous. And I wouldn't have much support, because everyone listens to them and usually goes along with it.

This is the kind of person who dominates every conversation, has everyone hanging on his every word, and whenever he decides to get mad at someone (me), they end up looking like the very epitome of stupid, shallow, obnoxiousness, being destroyed by completely righteous anger and intelligent arguments (even if they wouldn't hold up if someone were to actually look at them without the voice and the anger and the general power attached). Everything he says has the quality of one of those "burn" or "rimshot" memes, but so much more imperious sounding.

I do try to ignore him! But it's hard when I know he makes everyone else see me the way he wants them to. So I pretty much have to ignore everyone, and they're much easier to ignore.

Can you just say okay then, you'll find someone else with less pressing issues to talk fun with? Make him look like the ridiculous one for getting so serious.
