Is that even allowed? I thought the American elections were very much for Americans, with people who are not American citizens not being allowed to donated to campaigns and such

I don't think there's any rules against non-Americans doing volunteer work for the campaigns. There are rules on donating money and voting, but I haven't seen anything that would legally stop a non-American from phonebanking, doing graphic design, or canvassing.

I don't really have an opinion on whether people should be doing it or not. I doubt many people are going to such lengths, so it's nothing to really worry about.
