No matter what she wrote or where she wrote it about, this shitstorm was inevitable just for the kudoses of being able to attack the woman who is probably the world's most successful fantasy writer.

Yes! That's what I feel like JKR was going for.
And I think you're spot on about the teen rebellion thing. It's like the previous generation loved it SOOOOO MUCH that the next generation has to hate it on principle or something.
