I was a little disappointed the Resistance didn't seem to have any A-Wings or B-Wings, and the Empire was only using the baseline TIE... spaceship variety seemed down compared to Return of the Jedi.

The B-Wings were hella complicated, the A-Wings hella old even in the OT, and it isn't the Empire it is a rump state using what little infrastructure they could salvage from the ruins of the old.

There is a reason why each has what they has. You don't want too complicated or too old when running a resistance (the Rebellion was different, they had to use what they could rip off, but Leia had the advantage of being able to put a bit of advance planning into the Resistance and design her inventory in advance to suit her means) and the Rump State of The First Order is basically North Korea with functional superweapons.
