The fact that you're getting your info from anime as opposed from actually living in Japan makes me think you're full of shit.

Seriously, have you actually been to an okama bar?

Okama are widely accepted in Japan. I have yet to meet anyone express opinions like "oh they're just mentally ill" there, nobody thinks that, whereas LOADS of people in the US believe that. At most, people might think they're weird, and it might affect their job prospects (but just being a woman will affect your job prospects, so...)

That said, transmen are invisible in Japan, as are lesbians.
