Aww, kitties like that melt my heart, but I know what you mean. Lots of cats will follow for quite a very long way when they want companionship. But I'd always worry about cats going too far from their homes. Do you know who owns the cat? Maybe you could tell them that the cat follows strangers - I mean, arguments about whether or not cats should go outside aside, it's dangerous for kitties to just follow random people and go too far from their homes. Maybe you could warn them and suggest they keep the kitty indoors?

I know the owners. The cat doesn't go too far, though he seems to go farther than their other outdoor cat, who mostly sticks to their yard and the immediate neighbors' yards.

They know he likes to follow me, but he always goes home eventually. I don't think he follows strangers, just people he's already "friends" with.

They've tried to put both the outdoor cats inside, but they hate it. They had to keep them inside during a snowstorm this January, and the one cat "tried to tear down the walls," whereas the followy one doesn't like their indoor cats or the dog (but he's fine with the other outdoor cat).
