Evil creates conflict. Nice responds to conflict. The former is more interesting to me. YMMV.

You can have people who are nice but abrasive, or nice but fighting for their beliefs, or nice but have other issues? I mean idk, I found all the protagonists in Daredevil "nice" but I wouldn't call them boring.

Well to be fair, I didn't say nice was boring. I said evil was more interesting. Again - just my preference!

Gotcha, haha. Well, like you said, we all have our preferences!
Out of curiosity, is this true for you across the board? Or have you found series where you liked the evil characters less than the nice ones?

Yeah, it's mostly true across the board. My favorite stories are those where the main character is at least morally ambiguous. Like Breaking Bad, The Godfather, Dangerous Liaisons, most of Shakespeare's tragedies. I know it's kind of an unpopular preference these days. Sometimes I wish I liked heroes and good guys more.

You know, it's interesting that you say that, because recently I've struggled to find characters that I like. See, I DO tend to like characters who are "nice" in some way, but I feel like recently too many protagonists are pushed into assholism, and I'm basically left cold when watching/reading.

Yeah, I'm loving this trend, lol! But I hear a lot of complaints about it in fandom. Maybe that's because it *is* so mainstream right now, people are tired of it or just feel like they can't find main characters they like.

Anyway, to make this more on topic with OP's secret, split personalities are fun because they're the best of both worlds.

Ever since reading some books about people with MPD (or are they calling it something different these days?) I've struggled with the idea of a person with a "good" and "evil" personality.
Though I think I tend to find amorality more interesting than sadism or classic "evil".

But I can see how in a case like this somebody might find the evil personality more interesting - they might push the "good" personality too far in order to contrast with the "evil", and then just end up bland.
