The thing about Alex, especially in S1, is that she doesn't believe any of it is even a tiny bit real. She thinks she's making up everything, and as such she doesn't believe she'll face repercussions for her actions. She thinks she just has to put up with it for a little while and then she'll wake up like Sam did. And as such, she believes she doesn't have to operate within the system of the time she finds herself living in, and she comes off crazy.

Although I don't really like the way they worked Alex's transition between S2 and S3, I think overall she might have a more clear developmental arc than Sam. She doesn't remain as screechy and hostile as she started out.

Yep. That first paragraph is pretty spot on why I didn't mind her acting the way she did. Because to her it made sense.

And honestly does every character have to be calm and reasonable all the time? Hey if I woke up in a different time I'd be hysterical (tho I don't think the word really describes her) too.
