I think it's 1x03, and OP is correct that it is pretty consensual. And I won't say much more beyond that because there are major spoilers about that scene, in case you haven't seen the series- I know perfectly well people can miss out on phenomenally popular things! At that point in the story, it's still a good show. Knowing what I know now, I'd recommend stopping after S2! 3 is still okay in that overall the characters aren't horrid caricatures yet, but there is awful BAAAAAATES drama and absolutely nobody fucking cares.

If you want something kinda similar (aside from a obvious rec for the 1971 Upstairs, Downstairs), I will pass on a recommendation for The Grand (1997), set in a 1920s hotel. One of the shows Russell T. Davies did before Queer as Folk and then Doctor Who. Although S1 of this two-season series is stronger (a couple major actors get replaced), it's still an enjoyable soapy drama with engaging characters-- Mark McGann steals scenes as the Machiavellian younger brother of the owner, and the always-awesome Susan Hampshire as a mysterious permanent resident at the hotel. And noting the warning on this secret thread, I should probably note that The Grand should have a trigger warning for rape, if that's an issue; as should one of the later seasons of Downton if you decide to watch that.
