Poe is not as important a character as Rey's and I'm also quite sure that they have not been and will not be mentioned or important in the movies.

Rey, on the other hand, has her backstory/family story set up as a more or less important plot point in VII, important enough to throw flashbacks and several very obvious hints that, no matter what it is, that story is important for that character. You don't do those things to just drop them, at least not if you want to keep a semblance of good writing.

Han Solo's parents are irrelevant for the character's development, Obi-Wan is a classic Jedi with very very little contact to his parents (and it is equally unimportant for his development). Padmé's as well. Anakin, however? Major plot point. Luke and Leia? Yup, doubly so in both their cases. Kylo Ren? Hell yes. And in all cases where the parentage is important, they never, ever, take a character from a secondary, EU type canon.

Just imagine how ridiculously flat a reveal like that would fall. Everyone is waiting for the great reveal, and the father is *drumroll* EZRA.
*crickets chirping*
It would sabotage the whole thing.

I'd argue that the flashbacks and hints all point to it being important why and how she was abandoned, not necessarily who abandoned her.

True, but considering the context of the scene it was in I'd guess it still hints towards it being of some importance who left her there. I do admit that the person abandoning her on Jakku does not necessarily have to be in any kind of family relation to her. But her insistence that she was waiting for someone (heavily implied to be a father or other family member) on Jakku, I still think her family is an important factor.
