Anyone know how to fix a sagging door?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 12:30 am (UTC)(link)I've told my landlord and he says that the bottom of the door is probably really dirty. I know this can't be the issue because when I LIFT the door, I can see it rise a bit and it will move past the halfway point.
Would replacing the hinges fix this? Is there anyway to stop it from sagging?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 01:53 am (UTC)(link)If you like, clean the bottom of the door first, so he can't say you didn't do it. I doubt it'll do a thing unless the floor is really, really dirty--is your floor really, really dirty?
Alternatively, if you're good at that kind of thing yourself, maybe this is the solution you're looking for? I just googled "rehang sagging door" and this is the first thing that came up:

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)The toothpick thing might be your best bet. It is really your landlord's responsibility to fix the door, but with some landlords, getting them to cough up the cost is like nailing Jello to a tree.
Re: Anyone know how to fix a sagging door?
Try the toothpick method. It's the quickest and easiest for a rental. Had to do this on our bathroom door too, as real estate wouldn't do anything or tell the landlords even when it was scratching the floor.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)Your landlord's line about the "bottom of the door is probably really dirty" and he fixed it previous by sanding off the dirt is total bullshit. Sounds like you'll need to be firm with him about fixing the problem because doors need to open fully. It's a fire hazard.
