I'm doing the most stupid thing this upcoming season and I'm gonna watch everything. Yes even the shitty harems if there's any.

I'm following Haikyuu (Jesus, this last match), Osomatsu-san and had been (kinda) following IBO and let me do a small rant on it.

Haikyuu, I'm gonna re-read the Shiratorizawa match just to refresh my memory. Last I remember from it was TEN MONTHS, Tsukki doing things and Tendou being creepy. Oh and Ushikawa being socially stupid. Everything else is a blur.

QUALITY aside the pacing has been horrible. Kudelia's character development is ridiculous. It took Fumitan to die just to get her to do... what? Exactly what she has been trying to do since THE FUCKING BEGINNING OF THE SERIES JFC.

Orga's """character development""" is worse. Aside from it being tied to Biscuit's dead, which felt too on the left side he's now sending the rest of his crew to die. Fuck stealth mode WE GOTTA GO FULL FRONT AND DIEEEEE!!!1 Jfc Now it feels like everyone who dies is just for shock value.

Honestly, Biscuit and Fumitan's deaths where pretty meh. They didn't affect much the plot except make everyone more stupid. I did felt when Orga was holding Biscuit (that little bit hurt) but before and after that it didn't feel like much had changed. They where literal background characters that could be replaced with cardboard cut outs and no one would notice the difference.

Also Mika is a literal sociopath but this doesn't bother me so much. My beef is that he's just kinda there being one of Kudelia's cheerleaders. I could get slight character development or whatever but he's literally just there. Maybe eating something or whatever.

Overall the pacing is horrible and it's definitely dragging the story down.

I'm on the fence of dropping it because I can't be assed to care anymore. I just hope Shino survives, gets Yamagi and get the hell out of this series jfc this shit is just terrible. Guts, the old mechanic guy, Turbines and Atra can come too.

tl;dr but yes I have a lot of beef with this series.

Your rant makes me glad I dropped IBO. I didn't get to Biscuit's death, but fuck Fumitan's death, fuck Kudelia, and fuck the Mika/Kudelia "romance" especially. By all logic, nothing happened with her that should have changed his mind about her since the beginning of the series (when he called out her rich-savior-of-the-masses shit during the handshake scene, which I loved) and yet. Well, I guess I should know that's just how these shows are.

Atra is precious and so is Yamagi. I was actually hoping against hope for Mika/Atra, since she's the one person he's actually shown in a believable way to care for. And I know I can't expect anything to come of Shino/Yamagi, but I'm relieved to hear they're both still alive.

Fumitan's dead was seen since pretty much the beginning, but was there really a point in killing her when Kudelia was already doing what she was meant to do? I also like the handshake scene because I thought Kudelia would really think about why she was doing the whole "saviour" thing but instead we got her feeling guilty for the whole field trip to Earth and serious after the people's uprising/Fumitan's stuff. Imo Fumitan's dead wasn't necessary for her growing up. Having people dying around her, even if they where one chapter characters, should have drive the point home.

Then we have Mika's unexplored sociopathy. Like we have this guy calling him out on it and telling him that he enjoys killing, Mika going "well shit he might be right" and then it gets dropped. A+ storytelling.

Not gonna lie, Mika/Atra and Atra as a character grew on me. Mika/Kudelia on the other hand has been going down, even if it had an okay start. The kiss wasn't so bad, but what came after with Mika fanboying over her doing nothing really makes you go "what??" Sadly it's pretty obvious they are pushing for Mika/Kudelia with Atra being thrown under the bus for the sake of drama.

Yeaaah, about that... we're not sure if Shino is alright or not after Ein went 6 billion dollar man and went on a rampage against Shino/the Turbines. Shit was pretty brutal.

But yeah, I might drop it after the final episode next week.

Sorry for the tl;dr but I have a lot feelings.

Ahaha no anon, I don't go to /m/. I'm just pissy about the bad pacing and bad character development.

Welp, you sound exactly like them. You should pay them a visit, you will probably enjoy their hate circlejerk threads (they have this one thread right now, "IBO now officially the worst Gundam series ever even surpassing seed destiny for new levels of bad" that it may be of your liking). It might feel good to vent your frustrations with people that are going through the same.

Rereading this it kinda sounds passive-agressive. And shit, it wasn't my intention.

It's just that it's easy to find places to share your love for something but sharing hate is more complicated. And sometimes you really need to read people hating on the same things you hate. It feels good. And /m/ is going to be pretty good for that. Just wanted to help. Have a bear ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

Haha no worries, anon. I was actually pretty harsh with what I said and I apologize. I'm just really frustrated with the series right now. It's just that I'm really pissed at the whole stupid decisions being taken, the characters being killed because of them, and after A/Z I became more wary of mecha stuff. I JUST DON'T WANT MORE CHARACTERS I LIKE TO DIE. :(( Yes, not even 6 billion dollar Ein and Gali Gali. Choco!Char can go, though.

Also this is my first Gundam since I saw Gundam Wing on Toonami many moons ago.

I tried visiting /m/ once to see what the huge deal was, and it was confusing. Maybe I'll give the gundam threads a try. I'll probably vent my frustrations there and maybe come out refreshed.

You just seem to have a hate boner for a perfectly mediocre show. IBO has flaws but none that actually cripple the show like you make it out to have.

Do you not get the distinction between characterization, narrative and plot? I mean come on man, that whole post of your post basically boils down to "I'm looking for reasons to hate this show". Pacing has issues but it's not terrible, Orga is a good character (and he doing everything wrong and going crazy is intentional, you're not supposed to agree with him, these kids are wrong), Mika is just there but he was always intended to be a static character (and I'll fight you if you say that static characters are bad). Mind of Steel Kudelia is great.

Yeah we know Kudelia is great, all the characters have told us so at least 20 times per episode. I bet you can't say why, though. Plot contrivances that can be stuck onto any character like the ability to Use Her Words~ to get people to do things at the writers' convenience don't count.

I am pissed because the first episodes where pretty good and I wanted it to be good, and then it went downhill.

I honest to God don't hate it, but I can't see it end well either for anyone. It's frustrating. I just don't want to have my hopes again thinking they where gonna get character development just like I did with A/Z just to get Stockholm Syndrome and whatever asspull happened there too, plus NO HOMO ending ft. Shino and Yamagi.
