The look at the school from a teacher's perspective is what I loved the most about Mirror of Maybe. Now that's a long dead WIP I hadn't thought of in years.

I kept checking the website for years to see if Mirror of Maybe updated again but have completely forgotten about it. Wasn't that fic pre-OotP?

Edit: I just checked. Holy crap, MoM was last updated in 2006. I feel old now.

I...think so? I know it was pre-HBP at least.

NAYRT - I never read it, but just googled and that could almost be the summary of The Cursed Child. O_o

(Not that I think any body switching actually happens, just saying.)

Never heard of that and I don't like Snarry very much but the premise of seeing stuff from teachers' perspectives (other than just Snape's I hope) has me interested in at least checking this out. *Googles and bookmarks*

I'm not a Snarry fan either, but the circumstances of this one make it tolerable. Thanks to some timey wimey stuff Harry's of an adult mind and thanks to some magic, hus body is made to match.

Mirror of Maybe is that long dead WIP that about once a year I remember it and check the site. Just in case.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Same (though it's tapering off to like... every two years or even more). Cuz, yanno... stranger things have happened, right? Long-dead AU WIP suddenly getting updated isn't outside the realm of possibility, no matter how unlikely.

Professor McGonagall was my favorite character from the movies. During the opening of the battle of Hogwarts, she was so awesome.

I loved her. She took no shit and could turn into a cat. I'd read a whole McGonagall series.

I've never actually seen the movies past OotP but I kind of want to for her because she was great.

Yes! The teachers are so cool and I wish we could have learned more about them.

Excellent choice of picture - McGonagall was my favorite character in the movies and one of my favorites in the books. <3

McGonagall! I love the main characters as well, but she's my favorite HP character. She's just awesome. I wish there had been more of her in book 7.

The setting is way more compelling than the characters, who are mostly rough outlines.

The teachers are more interesting than the main trio of kids and the Weasely kids. Now, Luna or Neville or Millicent Bulstrode had potential, but they never got enough limelight.

Millicent Bulstrode's an interesting choice. All we know is that she's not very nice and she has a cat.

That's been my experience too, for Potter and every other fandom where the main character(s) are kids, even when I was a kid. The adults have always been more interesting to me.

I've also always disliked those kid appeal characters some cartoons have. I'm not sure if these things are connected.

[personal profile] shahrizai 2016-03-22 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I've always been more drawn to the adults in a series than the kids. I think it's because I grew up like an only child in a rural area without a lot of other kids around. I spent most of my time around adults and find them way more interesting.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
I always think the best kid series are the ones that have strong adult characters interacting with the kids.
