(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 02:50 am (UTC)(link)I feel like some things in fandom were amazing, and there's one I sort of wish I hadn't joined at all because it fucked with me so much for a while.
But on the other hand, am I sorry I participated so much? I learned a lot, I practiced my writing, I put my heart on my fucking sleeve. I LOVED, at a time when I really really needed something to love.
That was good. And if I changed the hard things, then maybe I'd have changed some good things that came later, too? I'm being vague, but I have to.
Fandom had some bad things for me. But I think it was part of a journey I needed to take. And I don't know if I'll ever have it in me to join in that way again.
