I kind of get it once I see a movie once, I'm probably not going to watch it again within five, ten years. I own loads of blu rays and DVDs of movies I saw, and I've only opened and rewatched one./...?

I wish I had that kind of money to throw at things I won't actually use.

I bet you do, Judgy McJudgington.

I like watching movies at home better because you can eat and drink and pause to go pee and cuddle and wear whatever you want and sit on a couch/bed or lie down and adjust the volume and the lighting and

it's waaaaay cheaper :3

That said I don't watch movies all that often.

Could it have to do with the pacing? Movies have to pack a lot into a short period of time, whereas a TV show can afford to spread things out. Even shows that have an "of the week" format still tend to feel slower and more relaxed than movies. Maybe that just works better with you?

I love watching movies at home as much as I do in the cinema(to the extent where I wish I had a proper 'cinema room') but different strokes and all.

I like watching at home - pee breaks, scream at the screen, snack breaks whatever.

I looooove going to the theater though. The whole experience is more immersive; it's grander, I guess?

I see where you're coming from, anon.

Holy shit this secret could have been written by me. I'm exactly the same, and I don't know why either? Perhaps something something, commitment? TV series usually go slower, so I feel like I can stop whenever - and I do pause quite often, to resume hours later - and movies, to me, feel like, STRAP IN FOR TWO HOURS HOPE YOU'RE READY and I just don't have that attention span? I don't know.

I'm the opposite. I don't like going to the theaters and I hate TV, but I watch at least one movie a week and I love it.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Same. It doesn't really have to do with not liking the experience at home. (Well family members do definitely interrupt.) I just remember my favorite movies really really well. So I don't need to watch them that often.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the other way around. I will rewatch only my super favourite shows/episodes, and yet I put movies on all the time either as background noise, to fall asleep to, as well as to watch.

I rewatch a lot of movies at home, but I often use them for background noise/visuals while I'm working on art. I already know the movie, so I can zone out a bit if I want to focus on the art, and I know a movie will give me a couple hours of good work time.

I don't like watching new movies (new to me, anyway) at home so much though.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a huge fan of movies, period. And if I do watch a movie, I usually don't rewatch it unless I really really like it.

I sorta get this. Part of it's because, for me, I have yet to get myself a blu ray drive for my computer. Since most of our movies are on blu ray...yeah. I admit. I'm lazy about getting up and turning on my PS4 to watch them. :P

But, I will go on binges. And it's not exactly like I watch them watch them. I end up binge watching Disney movies or The Indiana Jones/Star Wars trilogies when I'm really in an art grove. They make me happy and wannd DO, y'know?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit like this, too. When I'm at the cinema I don't have the distractions of cellphone and internet.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
a few people have said they like watching movies at home because they can pause for pee and snack and whatever breaks and fall asleep etc

THAT'S WHY I HATE WATCHING MOVIES AT HOME

because there's so many opportunities to do anything other than watch the damn movie

at a cinema you paid eleven quid (not including popcorn) so there's more commitment to get your money's worth out of it and just sit there and enjoy the film

Same! I just want to be in a dark room with no distractions.

I love watching films at home but there are too many distractions. Sometimes I watch a 3D version if we have it because that forces us to turn off the lights and you can't use phones/etc - and I'm not a fan of 3D overall!

But sadly distracted home habits seem to be creeping in at the actual cinema regardless of how much people paid. People on Facebook/Twitter constantly, people having loud obnoxious conversations. The immersive experience that you're meant to have at the cinema is kinda ruined if you end up near someone who can't cut the social media umbilical for two hours and the staff never catch them because they'll hide their phone when staff are lurking. It's not even a long time, I don't get it. We managed without checking up on people while watching a film for years.

I'm not a big fan of watching movies at home, there are too many distractions during a 2 hour period, but for 40 minutes I can watch an TV episode. So I tend to watch TV at home and not all that many movies. I see so many movies in the theater because if I don't see it in the theater I'll never see it.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
For me it's the length. At home I can stop anytime when I feel like it's really too long. At the theaters I have to stay because I paid for watching the movie, so I kinda feel forced to watch it to the end. lol

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Who cares? Do what you want. Why is this a secret?
