It's a big deal because no one thought that Sony would ever let Marvel have Spiderman back in the MCU. Now if only Fox would just let Fantastic 4 go to anyone that isn't Fox.

Seriously. I don't even care anymore.
Marvel need to just stop beating Spider-Man's dead decaying corpse at this point.
I don't hate Peter per day, but imo there are approximately 92929909 more interesting and unique superheros than him.
Constantly trying to shove and inflict Spider-Man on us over and over again, shows a lot of uncreative thinking on Marvel's part. I hope Civil War is still good regardless.

Is Spidey the new Wolverine? (Got a readership problem? Throw a Wolverine at it.)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol probably. I wouldn't mind more Wolverine though, since he's at least more interesting and funny than Peter could ever dream to be.

No, that's Deadpool, I think.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
+1 I feel the same way about him that I do about Batman: I really like the character but for god's sake give him a break for a decade or two before you reboot him put some other heroes in the spotlight.

I'm kind of meh on Spiderman and really meh on the way they are doing him. I'd be much more interested if they were doing the adult, married Peter Parker.

I feel like Spidey is one of the big things to be a hipster about now...I don't think anyone else in F!S really likes him either, except for me. :/

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Peter! I do think he is overrated, but I don't that in a negative sense. Like, he's a highly enjoyable character, just not the greatest of all time.

I'm very not up to date with him, though. I, uh, kind of stopped reading Marvel around the time his marriage got deleted from existence because what the fuck Quesada.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
You're not alone, I like Spiderman as well, his backstory is the reason why I'm so attached to him. That being said, I think people are wary of him because Spiderman keeps on getting the reset and his character isn't growing in cinematic universe.

Hopefully with MCU that will change...

I LIKE him and I actually liked the last two movies, but I don't necessarily need him in a cap film.

[personal profile] diet_poison 2016-03-24 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah it would make more sense to me to introduce him in an ensemble film. Though I thought Civil War sort of was one? because it's also about Tony and features so much of the rest of the cast? IDK

Spiderman's inclusion actually made me interested in this movie. I'm not a huge Spidey fangirl or anything, but just the fact that he's such a titan among superheroes, it's pretty cool.
philstar22: (Default)

[personal profile] philstar22 2016-03-23 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
He's not really going to be a titan here, though. This is young Spidey without all the history. He probably hasn't been doing the superhero thing for long.

I remember loving the 90s Spidey cartoon when I was a kid.

Two crappy movie franchises later, and the last thing I want is to see him shoehorned into the MCU. Just give the fucking character a rest already and use one of the thousands of other characters who haven't already had multiple film franchises flop.

I still say the second movie of the first series was pretty good.

nightscale: Starbolt (Marvel: Loki charms)

I like Spiderman and I think that if we hadn't had the Amazing Spiderman movies I'd be more excited about him coming to the MCU, but atm it feels like too much of him in quick succession. Like maybe he'll be great and I'll adore him in the film but I'm not excited for him as it currently stands.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I like Spidey, but he's never been a fave & I'm more than a little tired of him. 5 movies in what, 10 years? That's enough. Give the wall clinger a break.

Before anyone confuses this for me this wasn't negative enough.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I like Peter but his fans have been so obnoxious in various places that I hang out that I'm already getting soured on him.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I love spidey. But goddamn am I in agreeance. I have never liked spider-man in the avengers. Especially since Bendis run sucked and added him just because. Peter belongs in street marvel and teaming up with Daredevil and such.

But he's marvel's flagship. So ofc they're gonna throw him in the bloated cast of civil war rather than giving him a more appropriate street marvel crossover. And yes I know soidey was important in civil war comic but that sucked, lead to one more day and had NO CONSEQUENCES thanks to OMD/OMIT/Quesada.

I got the impression Spidey didn't have a big role in the movie to begin with.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you people even read Spider-Man comics??? Civil War ain't no Cap thing - it's just as much about everyone else. Read the comics people. There's a Civil War story line for about every character. Also for Spider-Man. If you base your opinions on the movies...please go hang yourselves.
