I love you guys. But you seem to have a knack for somehow making an already dark and tragic canon even worse.

First it was Celebrimbor alive when he was put on the pole. Now it is AUs where Mairon manages to force Celebrimbor's soul to be reborn in Numenor so he can torment him all over again.

What did poor Celebrimbor do to you? And why do I love it so much? He's my favorite, I shouldn't love tormenting him so much.

Also shoutout to the person who decided that the Oath means that the Feanorians end up in the Void with Morgoth. And also to the debete between whether Maglor kills himself when Numenor drowns or lives into the Third Age.

Does anybody else read this?

I've been so frustrated by lack of an update schedule with sporadic updates in between giving me hope that one will happen :( I got into this during hiatus and I don't know if it will ever pick back up!

I love it though and want to talk about it with people. I went through a bunch of fanfiction a few months ago but there isn't much out there at this point.

I read it! I haven't seen the brand new updates because I prefer to read them in batches, otherwise I tend to forget what's going on. I'd been getting frustrated at the lack of updates too, only because she does livestreams of her drawing all the time and I wonder if she has so much time to do that, why can't she be using it to update the comic? But I don't want to complain too much, but I hope she's starting to do it regularly again.

She did two updates in the last couple months which...gives me some hope? But it's still not a lot overall :(

Even once a week would be nice.

(I didn't know she did livestreams though, that sounds really cool! Are there any videos saved from them? Does she have a YT?)

I follow her on twitter (@avasdemon), which is how I know about the streams. She always announces it there when she's doing one. She hasn't said anything about having a youtube account, no saved videos as far as I know :(

Drat. :/ I don't really like Twitter and probably am not going to be motivated to check it all the time just to get news about one fandom.

I wish she'd post the news on her site more.

I kind of lost track of it because it never updated. If she ever starts updating regularly again, maybe I'll pick it up again?

Understandable! That's kind of why I feel off the Homestuck wagon though I am trying to get caught up on that in the next few weeks.

From what I heard, she kind of lost a lot of drive after her comic's fandom was being a cesspool full of massively entitled, spiteful assholes who constantly complained, tried to dictate what she had to do with her story and accused her of just about every -ism there is and lovely things like paedophilia etc. - so yeah, I kind of get why she isn't updating all that much anymore.

Wow that really sucks. :( This is why we can't have nice things!!!

Is this mostly a Tumblr-based fandom, or Twitter, or somewhere else?

Also wtf pedophilia? I don't understand any of the "isms" with her but that one least of all, none of her characters are children...they're all teens right? (Ok, Ava might be a kid but I don't really read her that way, she's like 14 to me) and anyway people draw kids all the time and I......don't get it.

What are the accusations based on?

ETA didn't she also say that she had the whole story mapped out in her head before she even started drawing it? So telling her where she needs to go with it is so extra stupid aaaaagh

The pedophilia accusation was because she drew a suggestive picture of Maggie (IIRC she was naked behind strategically placed flowers and giving a sort of sultry look). She even said Maggie was "aged up" in the picture, although I don't know if that was before or after the accusations. And either way, she's at least 15 in canon, like you said people draw more explicit fanart of characters that age all the time and nobody cares

And if she was planning to make Odin/Ava canon, that would also be pedophilia because Ava looks 12!!! Other people in the fandom were already getting called out as "triggering" for shipping it. The fandom's obsession with the whole topic is just overblown and weird.

Oh, I think I know what picture you're talking about. And yikes, what a silly response.

I ship Odin/Ava, I guess that means I'm a pedophile? There's a lot of fic for it though (most of it bad, and when I say "a lot" I mean relative to the size of the fandom, but still) so obviously I'm not the only one.

So Rey: Han and Leia's daughter, Luke's daughter, Obi Wan's granddaughter, a random Padiwan?

I'm starting to lean towards "random Padawan" myself. Her being Han and Leia's daughter doesn't even make sense, unless Kylo Ren/Ben wiped their memories. But that somehow seems even more evil.

I definitely don't think there's any way they could pull off her being Han and Leia's daughter. Maaaaaybe she could be an unknown daughter that Han had with someone at some point - after all hasn't his relationship with Leia always been kinda on-and-off? But it would make more sense for her to inherit her abilities from Leia's side of the family. Of course, she could just have abilities regardless or get them from her mother's side anyway but that would sort of defeat the purpose of having her be Han's daughter plotwise.

Luke's daughter might be the most obvious choice but I hope they don't go there, it would be nice to have Luke's character be about something other than romance/sex (as much as I love romance, don't get me wrong) and it seems really IC for him to just never have focused on it at all.

Personally I'm hoping for Obi-Wan's granddaughter - that would be so cool! - but I would also be ok with her not being related to any of them, especially because it would demonstrate that talent can come from anywhere and isn't necessarily correlated with your family.

It's really bugging me and slowing down my fic progress.

Today's secret made me think of it - who's excited for season 2? I didn't love the trailer, but I also felt that way about season 1 and ended up really loving it, so I'm hopeful.

This is the dumbest character to be ride-or-die on, but I really want to see more of Xanthippe this season. They had me with that character from the moment she referred to Germany as "the guys from soccer" and I just love her.

I'm excited! I've also gotten into 30 Rock, which makes me appreciate UBKS's humor a little more, AND makes me trust next season will be even better. (Since the last episodes were... meh.)

I want to see more Xathippe too. Also, I want to learn what happened to Kimmy's mom. Why didn't she turn up if she was so distraught she named her second daughter Kymmi? Unless her mother's just nuts. (In fairness, I feel like it was implied Kimmy and her mother never really had an even relationship.)

NAYRT, but I really should give up discussing fandom here unless it's SuperWhoLock.

In this case I think it's that someone also started a political thread. Politics trumps (heh) everything else these days.

That's pretty much the worst example you could have given. Pretty much everyone here ranges from "meh" to outright hatred of those shows, and certainly straight-up loathing for SuperWhoLock.

MCU would have been a better example.

I don't see that much discussion of DW and Sherlock. Definitely some of SPN but it's not the only fandom that's big here (MCU as another anon said, and also the popular flavor of the week)
