Well, I think one of the BEST things about Game of Thrones & ASOIAF is that it only rarely features the dragons or magic so they definitely feel more special once you see them. You're fully immersed in the medieval setting then boom, sometimes something crazy goes down and it's awesome.

SFX fatigue is the main reason I really hated the Hobbit movies.
