Could be because other people see that you've liked something of theirs, and if you like a lot of their things, it could draw attention to you, and excess attention can make people uncomfortable.

A year ago I was about the most calm chill person you'd ever meet, then I had something very traumatic happen and now certain little things will make my anxiety go through the roof...so I understand both sides. I was triggered recently from a song being slightly too surreal and it put me into a nightmarish dissociative state for days.

That's the thing for me, and why, while I'm careful about all the major trigger warnings, I don't necessarily understand the point of them. Frank discussion about rape doesn't trigger me. Smelling lemongrass does, because a bottle of essential oil got knocked over on my nightstand while it was happening and that's all I could smell. Fortunately that's not something that will catch me online, but it's not like I could walk past an aromatherapy store and hold them accountable for my being triggered. I certainly understand, but what if it's something as simple as a phrase or a lyric? There's no reasonable way to ask that a phrase be warned for.
