#14 made me think...

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's really my belief that 75% of hobby-based activities, or workplaces, or organizations end up being melodramatic shitstorms.

A friend of mine used to ballroom dance at a particular location, and that ended up being dramatic. Ballroom. Dance. My workplace had drama up the wazoo until they finally fired the instigator.

The thing is, you get a bunch of people in one room with similar, yet different goals, you're going to bring out the madness. Sometimes it's manageable, though you have to nip it in the bud early - other times it's not so easy to control.

Anyone with me on this? It's not that fandoms are batshit. It's that people are batshit no matter where you place them.

I'd say the problem is that batshit people move around a lot. When they're kicked out of group A, they try to start over in group B where nobody knows their tricks.

Good point.

I've never had trouble with this. But maybe that's because in my art group it's very individual work rather than a group working towards one goal.
