I'm so sorry, anon. Sadly, that pattern is dismayingly common: men in particular are often raised to believe that they ARE their career. No longer working means no reason to keep living. I hope you and other people who knew him are getting the resources you need to help, both with the loss and with any similar issues you may be experiencing.

Grief counselors were in today to talk to my department as well as us individually, so that way certainly helpful and good of the company. Thanks.
