Science v. religion really gets my goat too, and I see this mindset from both sides of the "debate". As someone who cares about both, I wish I didn't have people on both sides telling me I'm doing it wrong.

I feel I sit very much on the religion side of the "debate", but I agree. It should not be a vs. situation, but too many people make it so.

On the science side, do you mean atheists who get personally offended that people believe in an un-falsifiable deity? Because that gets my goat, as an atheist who Does Not Care that people believe in different things from me. I just care about when people try to maintain there's no scientific evidence for evolution (because it threatens their literal interpretation of their holy texts), and other pseudoscience bullshit, when it takes over classrooms or feeds harmful wider ignorance.

Yeah, or who say things like "fairytales" and "sky daddy" when talking to people who are religious, and just generally act like all religious people are stupid.

On the religious side I've had people tell me I'm not a ~real~ Christian because I believe in evolution.

I think people on both sides are ironically similar in that they're invested in maintaining an "us vs. them" setup so they can have someone to feel superior to.
