Do people ever actually have quiet minds? I've honestly never experienced a quiet mind, so I'm not even sure what that would be like. I'm thinking all the time. I have to daydream to sleep because my mind refuses to focus on nothing.

that's why meditation is so good :) people's "monkey minds" won't leave them alone so the discipline and relaxation of meditation is very helpful for that. sometimes now my brain is very peaceful and it's done a world of good for my anxiety and insomnia.

I've tried meditation. I just can't get my mind to blank. I can get it to focus on a single thing sometimes. But that thing usually has to be some thought because if I'm trying to focus on a physical thing my mind will wander.

it can take years when you haven't learnt it as a child like in many countries. western tradition does not teach mental discipline.

my mind quiets when i'm doing art

i think it's switching from thinking in vocabulary to thinking visually, so i just see pictures but i don't hear anything so it feels quiet

Usually I don't like that sort of phrase but boy do I hate it when people are actively silent in your general direction. So if that's what is implied here I do agree.
