Someone the other day described having sex 3 to 4 times a week as "quite sexually active," like as if it were a lot, and I thought, "that isn't nearly enough!"

But looking around, it seems like most people think 3 to 4 times a week is a lot! The norm for long-term couples is once a week.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I never realized my drive was so abnormally high!

What would be the optimum number of times per week for you?

I'd be happy doing it a couple of times a day, but I'm okay with less than that if my partner's libido is lower. Though I've tended to end up with people with also high sex drives thankfully. 3 to 4 times a week sounds low to me. I'd probably be in a mad mood a lot with just 3 times a week.

you want what's considered "normal" for someone like you? how old are you btw? what about gender? that makes a difference.

29 and female. My ideal is daily, sometimes twice a day.

Optimum? Probably 14 times a week, but more realistically, 7 times a week.

I too, only recently realized I may have an abnormally high sex drive. In fact, I was the anon who mentioned it in yesterday's thread.

Once me and my partner had sex 3 times a day for 4-5 days straight, and then had to stop that cause of life stuff, and my partner was like "I mean its good we cut back that was getting to be too much" and I was like damn... it was like, the perfect amount for me

What confuses me about these numbers is what constitutes "one time"

Sex until both parties orgasm one time each, 3-4 times a week is different froan hour of sex 3-4 times a week with multiple orgasms each

Which do they mean?

I assume it means "one session" like, you might have four orgasms that day, and you got up, cleaned off, and dressed in between each session, so that's four sessions. If you stayed in bed (or on the floor or in chains or whatever!) between each one and just kept going, that counts as one long session.

For me it depends. Usually I'd like to every other day or so. I had a really horny phase a month ago and my bf couln't really keep up. But since we have a little kid and a small apartment there's precious little time and/or room to do that sort of thing so we end up doing it about once a week on average.

As someone who doesn't have sex or want to, I think I passingly assumed 3 to 4 times was about average for most sexually active people. Consider my mind blown by the other responses.

Oh, no, I agree with you that 3 to 4 seems pretty normal. More when you're younger, less when you're busy.

I have a lower than usual sex drive. I have three times a month that I get really horny, so I'd say I'd average twice a week? Once sometimes? With the occasional no sex weeks. I mean, I don't mind having sex more often, but I wouldn't be the one initiating it.

I'm happy with about 2-3 times a week, sometimes less, except for the week after my period where twice a day is nice. My boyfriend has said he wouldn't mind everyday or other day, but seems to get a bit tired out when I'm really horny.

It of course depends on how busy we are outside the bedroom too. But all in all I'd consider us both to have a slightly lower sex drive than what other people seem to describe as 'normal' - which works out pretty well for us. We're pretty physically affectionate and enjoy sexually teasing each other in between sessions though.
