Oh cool, how are you making it? With foam of some sort? I know very little about cosplay or prop making.

I tried really hard to find an alternative, but looks like I'll be going with insulation foam. See, I'm not just making a Buster, I'm making a magnetic one to stick to my back. But damn is that sword big! Wood, and I wouldn't even be able to lift it. If I didn't have to worry about the magnet then maybe I'd go with paper mache+chicken wire, but I'm worried about the weight, and the good paper mache clays are a bit of a hassle to make and not as cheap as you'd think. I don't want to go all in with that before I try them out once.
So insulation foam it is. I haven't decided what to coat it with yet - probably at least one layer of Mod Podge, but I think I'll want something underneath it for strength, I'm not sure yet. I've never used Mod Podge before either, so I don't know if it'll give me the look I want, or how it takes spray paint.
I'm trying to keep the sword budget under 60$, though. It'll be tough; I've only bought a dowel and the paracord, and I'm already 10$ in. Paint will probably be another 10$ at least, and the insulation board another 10$...
