...of introducing a friend to a piece of media you've been following for a good while. Watching them get just as intrigued as you did by the mysteries and plot twists that are unfolding, seeing them pick up on things that you missed the first time around, and then biting your lip to keep from saying anything because oh my God the crushing irony of what you just said.

EDIT: Mild spoilers for the second episode of BBC Sherlock.

I just introduced my grandfather to BBCs Sherlock because he likes Elementary. We are watching The Blind Banker and he's spent the past hour trying to predict the plot twists based on his knowledge of procedural cop shows. "I bet this girl dies in the opening!" and I'm just biting my tongue because he was off by about forty minutes.

Has he seen the Grenada Sherlock Holmes series? I highly recommend it if he hasn't. :)

That is/was me with a lot of shows with my friends, especially Lost. My friends got into it way after the show ended. Currently, my best friend just finished watching all 5 seasons of Game of Thrones. It's fun telling him about fan theories I've read online. He told a neighbor about the Jon Snow/Melisandre theory I read a few months back, and that neighbor is going around telling everyone it was an original theory he thought of on his own. My best friend hates the guy now.

Also tragically amusing: Watching them pick a favourite character and get super invested in their development when you know that character doesn't have a long life span.
