While I agree with this generally, I would like to point out that there are lines at which this stops being valid. For instance, there are sound scientific principles behind both Eugenics and culling the human population to reduce our stress on the planet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an Agnostic scientist. I just think we also need ethics to draw that line. (And I mean ethics, not religion.)

I don't think science tells us to do this however? Science doesn't tell us to do anything per se, not even to reduce stress on the planet. It just gives us data. It's human ethics that places a value on life and death and environmental change.

...not sure where you got the 'science telling us to do it' part? I mean clearly science doesn't tell usto do Iit. Science is a tool.

Foetokhari's point was that if science says something different to your moral system then your moral system is wrong. My point is that while that could generally be held to be true, there is a point at which it crosses a line.

With regards to Climate change (which is not just a human problem by the way, as it has very serious implications for global biodiversity), culling the human population to keep the numbers down could really work to solve climate change - an increasingly insurmountable problem. . Clearly this is a case where science should not inform our morals.
