Re: Little movie/show scenes you love

Oh man a million of these so here is one: the Newsradio episode 'Kids'. One of the plots of the episode is that Lisa thinks that Dave (who she's dating, and also they work in the same office, it's a workplace sitcom) is hiding just massive amounts of porn at work, which he's not, but there's a whole thing, blah blah blah sitcoms. So anyway, Dave says something like "Imagine how embarrassed I am that everyone thinks I'm heading porn around the office," and Lisa says, "Well, why are you embarrassed about it if it's not yours?" And then she gives this little, like, bobbing head nod for a second or two, looking at Dave, and then she just rushes out of the room like she can't deal with it anymore.

And it's just this, like, perfect physical encapsulation of consternation and person-trying-not-to-freak-out and someone who doesn't want it to be that way but very definitely thinks it is that way. It's perfect. It's a physical gesture that has levels to it. I think part of it is that it's very much a left turn from the typical sitcom move - the typical sitcom thing would be to treat that as a zinger-type laugh line and just dwell on it. But instead Newsradio goes to a totally different place that's much more interesting. But it's also just a really great physical moment from Maura Tierney as an actress that I fucking love. Like, she just plays it so, so well.

Also it's cute as a button but, you know.

Ugh Newsradio was so good.

That sounds really cute and interesting! Is this scene by any chance on youtube or another video site where I could go watch it?

Unfortunately no. There are a few episodes on Youtube but it's very patch (there used to be more but they got taken down). The show used to be on Crackle but, again, not anymore. And the specific scene doesn't seem to be in any random videos on Youtube.

There are a few other Dave/Lisa scenes on Youtube, though, and most of their relationship is also extremely cute and interesting, if you want to check it out. I'd really recommend the show pretty strongly, at least the first 3 or 4 seasons.
