Is this news or a surprise to anyone? I would have thought this was a known thing by now, like the sky is blue

That Clinton is a moderate and a pragmatist is well known.

That she is going to, Day 1, sell out every single core Democratic value and political plank is a fantasy of OP's.

I was talking about the Republican thing and the Hillary being a moderate that's more likely to compromise thing

Both of those are true, though OP's insisting that Hillary will sell everyone out is wild speculation

That aspect of the post might stick out more to me because I've been arguing about it with this anon multiple times, so.

Oh. I was talking about the article mostly. Like, Republicans are behind trans discrimination, news at 11!!!

People insist she'll never compromise on civil rights in order to protect her wall street backer's interests. It is the biggest lie in her campaign, every civil right is on the table in order to get a moderate wall street financier into an appointee position or protect a financial proposition. I don't know why people refuse to accept it while touting her as a political operator who knows how the machine works.

She's a compromiser, yes. But I've seen no evidence that she's a one-issue politician who will compromise on everything else to get that one issue through. I'm voting for Sanders, but if the choice is between Hillary and any of the Republicans I'm voting for her.

People refuse to accept it because it's not true. It doesn't even require liking Hillary Clinton to reach that conclusion, just a conception of American political processes that's not fatally flawed.

Clinton will cut social welfare stuff, sure, but not central civil rights stuff.

Is trans protection central civil rights though? Especially if selling out such a small electorate gets her something bigger in return. It is going to be the first thing the GOP demand every time she needs a deal. If they say she can modify Obamacare if she gives up on trans bathroom protections, how fast do you think she will shake on that deal?

It is very quickly becoming central, yes. And, I mean, I think Clinton has learned a lesson from the gay marriage fight and recognizes that it's only going to become more and more central as time goes on.
