22: Oh no, I've seen plenty of bitching from both sides of the issue. "Character development rabble rabble!" "Ruining the plot blah blah!" Both sides are roughly the same size and equally as irritating.

46: That's probably the best way to start off, at least. I've had the most success using unisex names, going into a community, gaining the respect of its members, and then drop the gender bomb on them. There are occasional issues, but it's mostly all a big joke. Mostly.

60: I thought the whole point is that you're not supposed to take the plot seriously and that MGS is a comedic series. Now I'm kind of afraid that I'm missing the whole point.

Naw, the series can be pretty funny. Just know when to listen when the serious questions pop up.

Well, yeah. No one ever said that things that are funny as shit can't have decent points to them.

Well, those are the parts I take seriously. When the characters are askiing the big questions. What is a patriot? Who is a soldier loyal to? Can love bloom on the battlefield? Is the battlefield even a place for emotion? Why must wars be fought? All those are things to really think about.

I really don't have much to say except...

OMG CROMARTIE ICON

[identity profile] leafing.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems like 9 times out of 10 when I use that icon in any community, I get that response from at least one person.

Iconage is an interesting way of baiting out fans, although it seems like most fandoms that I get those sorts of responses from are pretty scattered. It's a little sad.

[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
More than a little sad. I've never seen any organized fandom for Cromartie, but it seems like whenever I see icons or cosplay for the series (particularly concerning Mechazawa) fans come out of the woodwork.

I guess the series doesn't lend itself well to shipping and such, so that doesn't help. I'm considering apping a Cromartie character on my RP to see if we can get a crew going, though.

[identity profile] leafing.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Mechazawa is just one classy bastard, what can I say? I usually stick with his brother for icons, just because he's just so tiny and cute.

on an RPing journal and too lazy to switch back, wheee

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] polychromatic. I only RP Princess Tutu characters there, currently, but I've been wanting to branch into other fandoms for a while. I have no idea who I'd play there, though...for the heck of it I considered Mechazawa, but I'm not sure if I'd be good at playing him (I seem to be better at spazzy characters) and I dunno how to handle the joke of nobody realizing he's a robot. Hokuto's lackey would be fun, too, but I'd need a Hokuto, and some way to keep anyone from knowing his name. XD;;;

Interesting, interesting. I think I've heard of this game on RP Secrets like once or twice, but otherwise have heard nothing at all about it. It looks like it plays similarly to the first round of Gyakusai RP, which is never a bad thing. I'll have to read up on what the deal with it is and see if the premise grabs me.

Do you have messenger or something? If you're really serious about trying to bring a piece of the Cro over there, I'd love to discuss it at (reasonable) length to sort out the whos and the hows and the whens, but F!S isn't quite the place to do it.

The diversity of the Cromartie cast should make it relatively painless to find something to suit our individual styles and still be able to work together amusingly.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's pretty fast-paced and chaotic, so it's not for everyone...but I do really enjoy it. I've met a lot of great people there.

Sure, I'm BrightBlueInk on AIM. I'll be a bit busy with RPing this week because I'm restarting a character and I've been wanting to rewatch some of the series to get a better handle of his character...And I'd probably want to rewatch some of Cromartie, too, since it's been a while. But hopefully I'd have more time soon? We need more cracky characters at Poly.

Good point. ^^ There should be someone, hopefully!
