29. I just started watching it too. He comes off as a bit harsh, but it was kind of fun. Now I can't help but think that everything he said in the show was a lie. All that "I cooked for the royal family and the president" stuff was just a bunch of bollocks.

31. I think you people need to take off your fangirl goggles when you watch shit. Yeah, Roy teases Ed, does that mean they're fucking? No. There's nothing there to hang a relationship off of. That's the worst pairing ever. Even Ed/Al makes more sense. Hell, Winry/Seshka makes more sense. Armstrong/Hayate makes more sense than that! Ok...maybe not. But Almost.

32. Just like every other person on the planet, every "BNF" is going to be different.

36. Sounds like you need a new hobby.

44. XD I always thought he'd be a cool guy to hang out with.

45. "I hate reading slash fiction written by women girls"
There. Fixed it for you! I like reading fic written by women, because mature writers tend to have a better handle on the differences between men and women. I HATE HATE HATE reading shit by little girls who are still in their sparkle sparkle kawaii phase. Arrrrgh! It takes them until college to pull out of that and they still need a few years to mature up. I'll take stuff written by Women any day, just spare me the girly girl shit.

49. ...People slash them? They obviously missed the point. All those years of hatred does not a ship make.

51. What's that from? ...Secret keeepers?

56. I'm old Gregg. That's like the only Mighty Boosh skit I've ever seen. XD

67. Was there ever good porn there? That's like saying "I miss good fic on ff.net"

Too lazy to log out of RP journal, but it's Secret Paths, a series of Purple Moon games.

Damn, I thought it was from some old 80s toy. That would have been cool.

They do. They did. It doesn't. But you know how yaoi goggle girls are about "hatesex." And then there's all the closeness and touching during "Pretty Women," and Judge Turpin's expression throughout. It doesn't help at all to remind them that the Judge is thinking of Johanna and Sweeny a. is a barber and b. wants to FEEL HIM DIE.

Fucking fangirls. It's people like them that give us normal fans who are female bad names!

Your icon is beautifully apropos.

See this one shine...
How he smiles in the light.
My friend.
My faithful friend...

Dripping rubies, I see. ^_^

Though I don't think Sweeney would ever call one of his friends an "it."

Oh I dunno; age doesn't necessarily make a better writer. Some of the lousiest hacks with the worst SPaG and understanding of male POV I've met are in their bleedin' forties.

Maturity =/= age.

Re: 45. (Not OP.)

[identity profile] srsfnbsns.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. But I've met more women who can write than women who can't. There's always a great gob of those bored housewives brought up on a steady diet of romance that just fail hardcore, but there doesn't seem to be as many of them as there are little fangirls who right pretty shiny whiny ukes.

Re: 45. (Not OP.)

(Anonymous) 2008-03-12 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Maturity =/= age.

"Blah blah I was more mature at 14 than soooooooooooooo many 40-year-olds I know whine whine."

There may not be a direct causation between age and maturity, but anyone who can't see a correlation between the two doesn't have two brain cells to rub together.

Re: 45. (Not OP.)

[identity profile] srsfnbsns.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
And I also agree with you little mousey! I'm tired of earing all these tweenies claim that they're sooooo mature for their age. I help out on a yaoi guild on an all ages board and we're constantly plagued by these "sooooo mature" young fans who flap around and squee. Uh huh. Sure.

While people tend to link maturity with acting above one's age range, it's also about having proper knowledge to carefully consider something. Just being laid back or not so squeey as everyone else doesn't make one mature. You need an awareness of the world and it's workings. Some 50 year olds don't have it while some well traveled teens might, but your average teen just doesn't. They all like to think they're special and mature and could properly handle a Death Note. Sorry kiddies, that thought alone just shows how much of a kid you still are.

Re: 45. (Not OP.)

(Anonymous) 2008-03-13 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
From what my own experience, so much of maturity comes from holding down a job, paying bills - accepting that there are consequences for one's actions (spending one's paycheck on juicy couture before one's electric bill = no electricity), and really ... experiencing a little bit of adversity.

That's one of the reasons why I think the peace corps (or even americorps) is a good thing for the "poor little rich kids" after they get out of college - being placed in a situation where poverty is real and Mommy and Daddy can't pay to fix everything is a character-building experience.

Me? I'm 21 and still not a grownup. Won't be til I've spent some time in the real world, which college most assuredly is not. (Assuming the in-at-18-out-at-22-parents-paying-for-everything-trust-fundy plan, rather than working one's own way through it. I'm in the middle of that road with more student loans than I can afford and that I'm totally not thinking about right now. >_< )

(I can only hope that, at 16, I would have known well enough to burn the damn thing after I figured out that, whoa, the Death Note is real.)

"Blah blah I was more mature at 14 than soooooooooooooo many 40-year-olds I know whine whine."
Come now, that's not what I said, and tacking insults onto the end of an otherwise reasonable sentence is only shooting yourself in the foot.

Re: 45. (Not OP.)

[identity profile] srsfnbsns.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
But it is a common argument of people who like to point out that age =/= maturity. A lot of young people bring it up. While it's a good point, it's also flawed.

Re: 45. (Not OP.)

(Anonymous) 2008-03-13 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
True, but it's always best to try and be polite and reasonable with people. Insults do not an interesting discussion provoke.

(Feel free to point out that I'm being foolishly optimistic to hope for such a thing here.)

Ok *coughs* Welcome to the Internet! It's SRS FN BSNS!

^____^

Anyway, yeah, fandom secrets. Not exactly the home of intellectual conversation. There's some lurking, but for the most part it's wank, wank, and more wank!

31 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-03-13 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
The point was that I'm not usually one of those fangirls, but that pairing makes it so I can't help myself. Might have wanted to say that it's the fic that turned my opinion that way. Nothing to support it in canon, hence it's crack. But God damn it, the fans write good crack.

Re: 31 OP

[identity profile] srsfnbsns.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Only, most fans ship it militantly and dig out "proof" and shove it down peoples' throats. They don't consider it crack. It's like a lifestyle for them or something.

Re: 31 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-03-13 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Every fandom and their brother does that.

Re: 31 OP

[identity profile] srsfnbsns.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
And that's why rabid fans suck. =/ It's ok to be hardcore, gung ho for a fandom, but being rabid about something, especially something that's all in your head, that's just made of fail.
