39: I can't believe I'm on page 7 and I'm the first person to mention this:

OMG GUNNERKRIGG COURT SECRET!!!!111!!!eleventy!!!!

*ahem* But, that said... you should remember that Gamma has to give up a lot for Zimmy, and there's no ultimate solution in sight. Even years later, Zimmy was still tormented. The danger in that kind of situation is that the person you're caring for might become dependent on you, while you get burned out to the point where you can't care for them any more -- leaving them without their only source of calm and sanity.

It's dangerous for one person to depend on another for the sake of their own mental health; it's also dangerous to pour too much of yourself into the care of another person, because you can end up wearing yourself out, no longer able to care for the person you gave up everything for, yet without the energy to do anything else effectively either. And that can lead to you resenting the person you cared for so tenderly, in the most painful of ironies.

Which is not to say that you shouldn't do it. But be aware of the dangers, and don't box yourself in, because you have a right to mental health too.

Heh, I was just scrolling and thinking, "I'm almost to the last page and no one else has commented on this?!" Gunnerkrigg Court FTW!

Zimmy is such an interesting character. Then again, they all are.
