One of those nostalgic "What were your earliest fandom things like?"

Pretty sure you misfired on your other comment, but I'm gonna LOL at the idea of procrastination and disorganization being part of a fandom.

My earliest memories of fandom was scouring the Internet for Pokemon fan sites back in 2004. I can't even remember any of them besides Serebii, tbh, but I remember having fun discovering them!

Serebii still has that nostalgic feeling since the site layout hasn't been changed in like 10 years. Old habits die hard though so I still use it. :P

If I want to relive those old days I could just dig out my Photobucket account... that's how long ago I started in fandom! Do people still use it?

I grew up in fandom, in that my mom was into zines way back when. So I grew up, reading these great Star Trek stories, and when I was a teenager, suddenly discovered Star Wars fandom and all of these wonderful new stories.

No internet then, so the fandoms were smaller, and definitely a much more closed society, but omg, it was so much fun to discover this whole world of (mostly) good to great stories (often with middling art). Not to say you couldn't have crap stories in zines, but the bar was a little higher in that your stories had to be accepted, or you had to put out your own zine.

Oh young me was very in to searching for information on Sailor Moon. I loved that show and I guess I was maybe 10 or so and the dub hadn't been fully released yet so I wanted to know what happened next.

Little did I know what rabbit hole I opened by doing that.

The first one was probably Yu-Gi-Oh and I analyzed it half to death with my online friends. I wrote so much shitty fic for that show and I used to have those weird pairing names memorized.

I wrote horrible Mary-Sue fanfiction, longhand, in notebooks, and was sad because I didn't have anyone to share it with. :(
