Honestly, the fandom reflects the show better than you would think. It's definitely action/comedy, but there's also a lot of (intentional? At first I would say it's a tossup but honestly after the OVAs I think it's absolutely intentional without a doubt), to quote TV Tropes "Ho Yay" going on in this show. Genos is basically Saitama's cyborg waifu at this point, and for the most part it's not played for laughs, Genos is just literally that intense over Saitama. Saitama for his part has obviously warmed up to Genos and enjoys having him as a friend and roommate, even if he's a little bewildered as to why Genos sees him as such a good sensei.

Not to mention the cast is overwhelmingly male, Saitama and Genos are obviously The Main Character and The Sidekick Of The Main Character so the show focuses on them the most, the few women that are introduced seem to be in no way love interests, and it's ripe for slash fandom to pick through.
