Okay, let me preface this by saying that I don't want to attack you at all, so please don't take my comment as such. I'm genuinely feeling for you here, because you've gotten a lot of negative comments--which, to be fair, some I think that are deserved and non-wanky, but there are others that go right over the line, and that is really bad.

However... the comments you're making are kind of hurtful. Maybe we just hang in vastly different circles in the game or something, but I don't see this behaviour nearly as much as you seem to, so I can't help but think maybe this is hyperbole? Like I said, I don't want to attack you, I want to understand where you're coming from because I get really upset with other people are upset. I like to think that I'm not deluding or "brainwashing" (and by the way, ouch :/) myself when I say that I don't notice widespread "atrocious" behaviour; there is some bitchiness, I don't think anyone will deny that (I have, in fact, called several people on it, and it was no big deal, no hard feelings, etc). People are only human, after all, and there's over a hundred players with diverse personalities, backgrounds, and style, and there are many many opportunities for all these things to just clash and make a big old mess. I just... don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here by replying to this secret, which had nothing much to do with your original comment. Making sweeping statements about a group of people is going to put those people on edge, just like I'm sure the mean comments that have been directed towards you (both in the past and here) have put you on edge.

In short, I think empathy is the key. I'm sorry something bad happened to you. But I really do think that your comments here demonstrate a sort of behaviour that makes me uncomfortable in a way you were probably made uncomfortable by the original comments you got, so no one's really winning the nicer-than-thou war now, huh? It's just a mess.

I know you don't want to reveal yourself, but I suggest talking this out with someone you're tight with in the game (I know some people have offered to discuss this with you downthread), instead of bottling up all your rage and exploding in a public forum where a)it's inevitable you'll get negative feedback, continuing the vicious circle this seems to be, and b)you back yourself into a corner. I would offer myself, but the way you're talking about the rest of the game, I figure that there's maybe a 80-90% chance you hate me, so.

Good luck. I hope you don't take this as sarcasm, because I really do wish you luck in trying to sort these issues out. I just hope you choose a less hurtful way to do it next time.

I know I overreacted a bit (okay, a lot) but as I said... uh... somewhere in this threaded mess, I'm angry about bullshit that happened to a VERY good friend of mine (and we were friends before we joined CFUD) in a way which denotes a whole lot of my CFUD experience just recently - and where I might have deserved it (in some twisted parallel universe some players seem to inhabit) she most certainly did not. I can only apologize.

In any case, I've calmed down a bit and will try to somehow sort out this whole mess. I'm tending towards dropping entirely currently, but I'm afraid of the unavoidable repercussions, especially if I did it so soon after this thread (and I'm fairly sure at least a good part of the IRC channel is watching this like a hawk). I can only try.

Some of the language here is still setting me a bit on edge, so I'm only going to reply to one thing:

If you want to leave, you should leave. If you want to stay, stay and try to move beyond this. People have volunteered to help (and I myself am volunteering, too) so you're not completely alone, and if you've got other friends to turn to, take advantage of that. If you're genuinely scared of whatever "repercussions" you feel will result from a potential drop, get someone to hold your hand through the process and discuss it beforehand with your good friends in the game, so that they know what the deal is; anyone who e-stalks or e-harrasses you sucks, so don't waste a thought on them. It really isn't worth it to stay in the game if it makes you feel this bad.
